glock 19 edc

Glock 19 Edc - We all know the story. We've all seen the video. Late last December, the issue of carrying guns into church became more prominent in our national discourse when Jack Wilson, a 71-year-old former reserve sheriff's deputy, was shot and killed by a gunman during a service on the West Freeway. Christ in White Settlement in Texas. The whole event took only six seconds, thanks to the quick actions of Wilson, and the foresight of a pastor who saw the need to protect his congregation and the armed parishioners. Here in Arizona, the concept of an armed congregation is not as foreign as it might be in other parts of the country. And in this part of our 'What We Carry' series we take a look at a Glock 19 Gen 5 MOS who spends his Sunday at church. This is the third Glock pistol we've looked at in our "What We Carry" series. It is also the second G19, as well as the second Glock carried by Matt.

This particular Glock 19 was set up from the start with the intention of being carried to church. However, in Matt's case, this was not simply a matter of him bringing the church for purely personal defense purposes but rather as part of the church's volunteer security contingent which meant he had to think a bit more deliberately about what they brought. In order to be approved as part of the security detail, Matt and others had to go through a firearms training program. This program is essentially the firearms component of basic police officer training standardized by the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board, or AZPOST. Of course, since Matt is an engineer here at Apex, and works on all the weapons we design parts for, his role at the church is a bit broader. Being the man with the most knowledge when it comes to firearms, this resulted in Matt being promoted as the de facto armorer for the church congregation. And it might just be the best church armor in the country - assuming Scott and/or Randy aren't sitting in the church pews.

Set up a church weapon While the other weapon he carries is a Glock 43, for church use Matt decided on a new Gen 5 Glock 19 MOS. Going with another Glock makes a lot of sense, and the 19 in particular. Aftermarket upgrades for the Glock are legion with a number of companies, including Apex, offering products to customize the gun. Being a MOS model with a slide design of Glock's modular optics system, which allows you to mount several optics, as the name implies, Matt's whole plan was to carry out the gun with redot. It is the relatively new Aimpoint® Acro P-1 slide mounted Gen 5 19. Mounting is easy as Aimpoint offers an Acro adapter plate for the Glock MOS (item number 200520), as well as other pistol options popular. So why the Acro? Also, Matt wanted a closed optic, which makes it a little more complete proof, especially when it comes to eliminating dust and debris from obstructing the reddot. And yes, before you say anything, the battery life needs management, but it's not as bad as you've been led to believe. The added height above this slide, or any other reddot, means changing the sights to suppressor height sights. These sights are upgraded with Ameriglo 3-Dot Tritium Suppressor Height Sights.

Of course, for us here at Apex, it's the trigger that makes the biggest impact on performance. Since the last thing you want in a gunfight is to fight the trigger, this G19 is upgraded with our Action Upgrade Kit for the Glock Gen 5. This kit provides for a longer trigger pull smooth with reduced travel, reduced reset, clear break and about a 1 pound reduction in trigger pull weight. And since trigger control is king when it comes to accurate shooting, a better trigger allows for more control. Not a bad idea if you have to draw your gun in a crowded church. Rounding out the G19 package is the Inforce APLc for Glock with its 200 lumen white light. A gun-mounted light is not necessary in daylight, but comes in handy indoors when the lights are out. And it's good to have one when you need it. So, Matt is prepared if the need for lighting arises. Finally, this updated Gen 5 Glock 19 must be concealed and to do so Matt chose an IWB Slim Axis Dissimulation Tier 1 holster. The Axis Slim is an appendix carry device that uses shock cords to attach the pistol to -extra magazine. Using cords, the strap has more flexibility so that the firearm can be bent closer to the body independently of the magazine, making it easier to carry in a wide range of daily activities . When it comes to carrying on a daily basis - or just for church on Sunday - you have to go with what's best for you. What works for Matt may be totally different and not at all what you choose, but that doesn't make it a bad setup. At least nothing. And when it comes to defending an entire congregation, this may be just the ticket.
